I have a site and blog that ive been working on for a couple of years and I need to move hosts.

Preferably I would like a linux server, shared or vps (Probably shared due to my budget £25pm) with cpanel, php 5 support, mysql etc

The two most important things I require are:

    1) Assistance in moving the site and blog as I would like as little disruption to the sites performance in the search engines as possible.

2)My blog is currently running on a platform called blogware, assistance in extracting the content to wordpress is a must, Ive been told its not possible by others but surely other than giving up the content there must be a solution!

I realise this is out of the scope of most major corporate hosts, but Im hoping theres someone out there that can assist!

    Hello,

The only way to do this would be manually and unfortunately when moving to a different content management due to the different structure of the pages, content, code it will effect your existing rankings. However, moving to Wordpress is definitely a good move and you should see the benefits soon enough.

It's definitely possible but depending on the size of your blog it's likely that it will take hours to do this.

    Zomex,

I have heard of hosts who have been able to transfer blogware content for customers, unfortunately I think they are all US hosts. I have even come across a blog where someone boasted they had migrated to wordpress from blogware themselves, again unfortunately there was no information on how this was acheived.

Oh I see. Keep in mind that the speed difference server location makes may not be worth the hassle of ruling out US based hosts. I mean, it will make a difference but it won't be notifiable. However, which ever host has the best hardware/software/manages the server well will have the best speed.

I do hate it when that happens! How big is your blog? How many pages/posts?

150+ articles and over 300 comments, luckily though I have been given a link to a Wordpress plugin that will supposedly do the job.

    Fingers crossed!

I just need to find a new host now with cpanel, mysql etc and learn how to get started with Wordpress.

Nice find, that should make it much easier!

We provide cPanel hosting with a few benefits over other hosts including Softaculous (install Wordpress in a couple of clicks), daily backups, Litespeed (makes your website faster). You can learn more about our plans below:

    Professional Web Hosting

We host over 200 websites and have been running for a year and a half. We see this as a benefit over other hosts because we are able to give our customers a personal service that can't be found elsewhere. We'd be more than happy to install Wordpress for you and actually point you in the right direction should you have any issues with Wordpress (won't happen with large hosts due to customer base).

However, our servers are located in the US (I'm from the UK also).

If not I wish you all the best and I'm sure you will find a host that meets your needs.
