I've just set up a New Account for a .co.uk which is bought via 123reg
I was just wondering what I need to change in the 123reg.co.uk control panel to point it to the hosting?
I've been given a Name Server and an IP address? Do i just change the A and CNAME records to the IP address I'm supplied with? or do I also have to change the name servers?
in 123reg, click your domain or select it to modify, click change nameservers and paste the nameservers in eg, nameserver.hosting.com
Will take a few days for name servers to update though
Don't think you'll have to do anything with the records, I never have...

wow - doesn't that reseller account look a bit too good to be true?! £20 per month, and you seem to have virtually full control of your (shared) server. Not bad bandwidth/disk space either.
I presume it does all the usual .htaccess stuff too?

There are two ways of doing it.
You could change the name servers to the ones provided by your host, or you could use 123-reg's name servers.
For the first option you would just need to change the name servers listed in 123-reg to the ones provided by your host.
For the second option you can change the a record, cname etc records in the 123-reg control panel.
I prefer the second option because I can just change my a records to point to the website, but I can use 123-reg's email forwarding system.
Thanks Jeff. Just learning all this hosting stuff. The resellers account seems perfect so far. Very pleased with it. I've used the DNS forwarding at the moment and is working

Chris I can give you access to an account of your own if you want a closer look at it?
The support are excellent too. I got replies within minutes on Sunday.
