My existing shared server webhost has introduced a script limit of 128Mb per domain for scripts. I use a number of MySQL scripts on one domain specifically to avoid having them on all domains as the other domains interrogate the MySQL to display the data held.

Now without warning my webhost has introduced this limit and it's killed my sites on the shared server.

I need for MySQL to following:

converta_admin 0.07 MB

converta_datafeed 1059.77 MB

converta_feed 1.82 MB

converta_mailer 61.95 MB

converta_products 14.12 MB

As you can see my main script is 1059.77Mb

So what webhost supplier can offer me a new home for under £19.99 a month including VAT?

I got this reply to my support ticket. Worst case I get yet another VPS.

Unfortunately this setting is a server wide setting and we cannot adjust it for one instance, we have this limit in place to protect server performance and stability and although i'm sure your script isn't a problem as it is only run periodically if someone was to have a script that used more than 128mb of ram and ran it frequently it could cause the server problems.

If you require custom php settings for your sites/apps to work you might want to look at a VPS solution as they are not much more than a reseller but you have complete control over it's setup including php settings with the added benefit you are not sharing the server with anyone else.

I already have a VPS for a client and the shared account is a Resellers. So do I upgrade and spend a bit more a month or can someone steer me in the right direction?

I regularly go over 128mb! Never been an issue and they do have a "business" plan where you only share the server with a handful other peep's.

I also took a look at their resellers option. Impressive.

I'll let you and others know if I opt for the Business or Resellers options if they supply what I want. A lot more disc supplied and a touch more bandwidth.

Are the figures quotes by John Jupp, the volumes of data extracted by the scripts or the memory used by the scripts ?

Memory used. As in size of each script.

Ahh understood... thanks for the information. I'm asking about that now, as I am looking for a reseller account.... dedicated server would nice but looking at that later on. It has helped eliminate one hosting company off my list and helped save a bit of time and trouble.

cPanel lists all MySQL databases, which includes scripts uploaded.

Shared Business will suffice for now. VPS later. I have one VPS and two reseller atm. The VPS is under contract to a client. It's one of the resellers I have issue with.

For shared hosting plan you should try bluehost they are quite reliable.

Why not optimise the inefficient script a little so it doesn't require over 1GB to run.
