Hello,
I was wondering has anyone looked into the resources demands of running data feeds or any rough metrics. On a shared hosting including reseller accounts hosting companies (understandabely) may have t & c that affect data feeds (VPS/Dedicated won't have this issue normally) eg one hosting company states that
"We do not allow scripts that requires more than 8Mb of memory space, more than 30 CPU seconds, or use more than 5% of all available shared system resources at any time.". If this occurs they can suspend account or script etc
I read one poster on this forum has experienced one of his scripts taking up to 128MB
I know possible options are to run scheduled jobs, use filters etc to grab data in smaller chunks etc .
Any tools we can use to monitor the memory usage, cpu usage etc on a shared (reseller) hosting account. I aiming to run data feeds on a dedicated server at some later if my website proves worthwhile etc.
Are there any hosting companies offering reseller accounts where they don't object to long data feed downloads, heavy cpu loads etc?
Or any other useful suggestions.
Thanks in advance.
