Due to a server issue with my previous host (Fasthosts) I've decided to switch my larger sites to a Vidahost Linux server.

As the title of the thread suggests to my suprise yesterday I discoverd that possibly 100s if not more of my images are not visible on my assisted migrated site due to Linux and its case sensitivity.

Does anyone know of a script or something that could help me sort this out? Otherwise my only alternative is to trawl through each image file manualy changing each image name.

I cant personally recommend any tools but sound like you either need a bulk file name replacer for linux to run on the server or rename them locally on your computer and re-upload.

If all your images are in one directory you may even be able to use some mod-rewrite trickery

Sorry I cant expand any further.

I've done it manually its took the best part of the last three days and I'm probably about 90% of the way through it.

One more question if you had just switched from bog standard hosting with no real control panel or root access to one on cpanel with root access what would you do?

Dont alter or change too many settings at once then if things go wrong you can retrace your steps.

Its relatively easy to muck things right-up (if your anything like me)

Baz I do agree with your suggestion , of not making to many changes at once.

I'd recommend taking a full cPanel backup as soon as everything is correctly setup and before making any other changes to the site, can never be too careful!
