Host Plus Need advice

This is a silly gripe but it is really bugging me.

Last year I bought a .com domain with hostplus.co.uk.
I paid £17.98 for what I thought would be 2 years

now a year on they are asking for a further £15.26 (their website states 1 year £8.99 (ex Vat), i checked just now)

For the original domain they are saying:
"The charge would have been £12.99 for the domain (this is what we pay) plus £4.99 admin charge." but looking at archive.org

the nearest date to that I bought the domain in the archive was just a month before, stating price was 8.99!!!!!!

They have really peed me off.

Could you not just transfer it to www.123-reg.co.uk and pay for transfer + additional years? You may still lose out a couple of pounds, but you are then with a reliable (speaking from experience) net reg company.

I should have done that.
i ended up renewing with host plus for 'can't be arsed' reasons.

Hosting up for renewal next year, I will try and weigh up my options in 11 months.

From personal experience, its always best to keep your domain and hosting seperate to stop an un-ethical host holding your domain hostage and demanding ransom.
