Yes you have to have a limited company to apply for the ltd.uk extension. The registrar will require evidence such as company registration number and registered address which Nominet verifies with the database at Companies House.
I gather that most companies which register a .plc.uk or .ltd.uk domain name are limited companies. Is it essential for a company to be a registered limited company to get a .plc.uk or .ltd.uk domain name?
If so, why do most UK registrars allow these domain names to be registered without evidence of limited company status?
Don't want to register these domain names, use them, and then have them taken from us by Nominet for breaking any rules (no rules mentioned on Nominet site from my search).
