I have a .co.uk domain name that is currently not in use. There is a large company with the .com domain and I am considering approaching them to see if they want to buy my domain. My domain is also the name of my limited company and has been registered since 97, so there should be no uncertainty about my motive.
What would be the best way to approach this - has anyone had a similar experience?

Is it a trademark? If so approaching them with a view to getting them to buy could be problematic.
I would be wary about this. Any domain name legal case I have seen seems to centre on the fact that the owner of the domain offered to sell it and then this is taken as a bad faith registration.
I'm not saying it is that but I just seem to have read dozens of cases and that was the main issue.
I did have reservations about contacting the company and offering to sell it. I think I may offer it for sale elsewhere. What are the best sites to sell? I've tried sedo in the past but was not impressed.

AcornDomains.co.uk has a pretty lively sale section
Yeah, if you offer the business attached to the domain, even if it is only a small website and minimal traffic, you avoid the 'bad faith' issues that can cause problems.
