Has anyone had any joy changing the dns of a domain with 1&1?

Got a great domain to point to a white label but the chuffing thing aint working! Don't want to spend the next 5 days on the phone to them does anyone know how it's done?

I've got the ip I need to change the dns to, but 1&1 only seem to allow to point to resolved dns???

    Cheers,

    Lee

I have several names at oneandone that I point elsewhere.
Not had any problem (which is unusual with oneandone) with changing dns.
Normally have to wait a few hours for change to show on whois and a few days to propagate.
    Go to domain overview.
Tick box against domain you want to change.
Click on dns at top of box.Dropdown menu.Edit dns.

It depends what package you're on - if you just order domains through them I think you have to use dns servers elsewhere, as I don't think you have access to set individual A records (web) or MX records (email).

I've got a server with them and thats got more features on the domain control panel to allow these records to be created.

1and1 are abysmal. I tried to take one of my domains out of redemption with them, a process which took weeks when it should have taken a matter of hours. They don't respond to emails or don't do so in a timely manner and as for trying to explain the redemption process on the phone.. Everyone of their phone muppets seemed to have a problem with the English language and even when I spelt out the domain name they did not have basic understanding of the alphabet. There record keeping is poor as is their attention to detail. Even when we threatened to put the lawyers on them they still managed to goof up.

If your web sites don't need much maintenance and you are technically savvy then you may be ok, otherwise be prepared for severe annoyance each time an issue crops up. Only my opinion but these were the worst hosts I have ever encountered by a long shot.

Chris, couldn't agree with you more... I know that this doesn't help you getvis, but 1&1 are awful if you need a half decent / technical site.... just don't do it! we lost hundreds of pounds through their inflexibility... a big steer clear from me!

I've done this dozens of times - all without any issues. PM me if you need any help.
