  Heart Internet Re-Seller account

I've just signed up for Heart Internet Re-Seller account for bout £30 a month.

It's actually for my personal domains (not affiliate stuff), but the price just seems stupidly good. Unlimited space & bandwidth (and they SAY it really is unlimited) and 100% uptime.

Can someone please re-assure me and tell me that i've done the wrong thing? Why are these people so cheap?

I know i'll have problems - I just know it, but if I don't i'll be very happy!

You can only use 5% of the server they palce you on from what I have been told by them, spoke with their support people on this, if you go over, so that means high traffic sites - they warn you, if you do it again they ask you to leave, speak with their support people via there site and post there responses here please.

I was with them a month and asked lots of question related to the above and general reseller stuff, the answers were honest and not 100% of everything included....Sadly

Here is the reply I got.

Quote:
This is partially correct. In our terms and conditions we state that no site may use more than 5% of the server resources. This is to protect the sites on any particular server from abuses by another site. In general we do not enforce that limitation when it comes to disk space and in other cases we only do so when the site in question is causing real problems. Most of the time we simply move the site to a different server to better balanace the load. In very exceptional circumstances we may recommend that the customer move to a dedicated server. However, usually in these cases the site has reached such a volume of traffic because it is distributing illegitimate material, in which case it is already not abiding by our terms and conditions.

In short, yes, there are limits, but they are almost never seen in practice - they are just there to protect against abuses.

I moved all my sites from them a couple of months ago after 3 days of downtime. HI have only one current issue, and that's the speed of there servers, at certain times they can take over 30 seconds to serv a 20k html page, php is really really slow at times.

They have over 1000 websites hosted on each server, and if a script on any of those starts hogging the cpu then all the sites on that box grind to a halt until tech support notice.

Other than that, and the downtime (which i understand they have now addressed), I was quite happy with them.

There is an unoffical Heart Interent Forum, which is quite an interesting read...

  Re: Heart Internet Re-Seller account

I've been with them for about 6 months. No speed problems at all that I can see. I like their control panel and reseller pack - price is great.

I have some busy sites but to be honest if I had anything doing 5%+ on the CPU all the time I would move it to a dedicated server, as that's a bit much for shared hosting.

all good for me too, however if you have anything that is completely mission critical-essential, i'd not risk it - their support has been good so far, but it's support ticket only. no way of contacting them at all aside from that.
It's fine for most peoples needs though.

I like it - no complaints - and the couple times that I have needed support they have been super-quick in responding to my tickets.
