  123 Reg And I'm Concerned!!!

123 Reg has been bought by Pipex.

123 Reg has nice domain handling control panels etc but Pipex are a nightmare!!! Everything through Pipex must be handled by FAX on company letter headed notepaper for domain transfers, changes, home address changes, DNS changes as you will have no control over such changes any more and also email forwarding etc etc. Pipex have NO control panel for domains!!

AND ONLY TWO PEOPLE WORKING IN THE DOMAIN HANDLING DEPARTMENT!

This was confirmed by Pipex direct to my co-Director.

My concern now that Pipex is in charge is will 123 Reg adopt Pipex's method of working or retain their superb existing operational parameters?

Pipex have said they do NOT know which method they will adopt for 123 Reg.

Is this the end of 123 Reg's superb service?

I hope they leave all well alone. I can't see them aboloshing the control panel, which has recently been revamped, as this would cause costs to skyrocket.

I can understand if they decide to push the prices up though, as they are very cheap.

I am pretty sure this happened over a year ago. I am pretty sure they will continue to leave it alone. (I am only guessing though)

Yes, they were bought out ages ago. I don't think you've got anything to worry about though.

We spoke to Pipex yesterday. No corporate decision has been taken with regard to the manner in which 123 Reg will continue to function.

The reason I mention this is we are transferring a domain from Pipex to 123 Reg and Pipex do everything by Fax. The Pipex people we spoke to declared thatno decision had yet been taken but that they were looking at uniformity in operation between the two arms. Hence my concern. Will 123 Reg adopt Pipex's way of transferring domains? That's like so sloooow!
