Hi all
I am looking for windows hosting in UK with MSSQL shared database. (cant afford full licence now..)
Been with 5 different companies in the past 1 month..
1. Fasthosts (site was down for a day before they answered emails. The guys who take your calls are just telephone operators)
2. Webfusion (site too slow...no response to emails). Took them 10 days to set up a VPS..which didnt work!
3. 1 and 1 (problems setting up database..they havent answered support mails ..i(ts been a fortnight)..I would prefer a UK hosting anyway)
4. Netcetera.Charge extra for everything..still signed up with them. But not happy with customer service yet.
5. My current host ..so far ok..replies to support. But the site goes down about 5 times a day regularly for brief periods.
6. Titan internet..want a full year upfront. I dont want to pay that.
I need it in UK as we want to use a .com name. Need about 20GB bandwidth and reliability. Ready to spend upto £100 per month, including for database.
I am nearly being pushed to go to US for hosting!. Toying with an idea of CWCS VPS, but its a bit expensive for a VPS. (they never returned my sales enquiries though)
I dont know if there is any point in going dedicated or VPS and use a shared database though. Any advice? If the site is a database driven one, would a dedicated matter if I have the MSSQL on a shared server?
Could someone share their wisdom please?![]()

Try Open Hosting on 08701 651 351.
We have a great relationship with them and you will not get better support - honestly! I just IMed them and they can offer you what you need.
Ask for Jon or Chris and say Chris from Advanced System Technologies recommended them to you. They will look after you.
Alternatively contact them via their ticket system: http://helpdesk.openhosting.co.uk as
Hi
Thanks. I will contact them. Do they have 24 hour telephone support? Has anyone else used them?
Any other options people know? (obviously, I will try openhosting aswell)
Cheers

Sorry, can't offer a recommendation - we moved ours away from the UK last year for the same reaons - uptime and customer support.
I signed up with OpenHosting a few months ago based on a recommendation from this forum.
They've been excellent for me so far. I've had no downtime and the Control Panel is a breeze to use. If you do lots of small one page site updates like I do, you might notice that the FTP logon process is really fast. Dreamweaver pushes files up as quick as if they were on your own PC.
