  PHP 5 Hosting Required

I'm looking for reliable cost effective PHP 5 hosting, hostroute is only on PHP 4 and won't upgrade for me yet. I was looking at 2mhost.com but they don't allow gambling or newsletters, so I'm naturally looking at a more accessable product that's not dictated to by a US government.

Any suggestions please? PHP 5 hosting, cheap (cost effective) 200/500mb and 20GB as standard or less as long as I can upgrade should needs must.

Cheers
Lee

I very recently signed up with www.penguinwebhosting.com and although very early days yet have been very impressed with their responses to questions etc. so far

Not sure about the gambling and newsletters but they are php 5, you might want to contact them.

General consensus paints 1&1 as a nightmare don't they?

Are 1and1 not too bad then? I've been ringing around but no others will allow a mailing/newsletter list. 1and1 appear to do a £1 for an additional 1000 emails, that's not bad is it?

I need to sort this tonight, would anyone care to recommend them and put my mind at ease before I click continue. Please... like I said, I'm usually with hostroute but their PHP lag makes things difficult with this one new project. Developer wants 5 for better outcome.

Cheers
Lee

Heart Internet (http://www.heartinternet.co.uk) have recently upgraded to PHP 5.0.

I have had no problems with them, and would recommend them if you can find a suitable package. Their customer service is very good too - always a bonus, and they have their own affiliate scheme!

1and1 want six months up front so that's off. A shame the newsletter function looked attractive, is that supplied anywhere else? Monthly payment req.

I'm emailing them, they look the best option at the moment. I'm just asking them a few questions and what the difference is between penguinhost.net and the above. The cheek of 1&1 advertising month prices then wanting six months up front... everyone is trying do you at every turn.

Cheers

Thanks redbird I shacked up with the penguin in the end, it looks like we're in animal business now well the developer seems happy enough. Thanks for all other advice, cheap, monthly, spacious and options is what mattered, shame about the newsletter at 1and1 though, I fancied that, I'm sure I can plug something in on the cheap though whem it lifts off.

Thanks again
