Hosting

Can anyone offer some advice,

I am looking for hosting for my new website, and want to upload via ftp…. (do all hosts provide passwords etc?)

Anyway, I have used streamline in the past and it cost me about £80, for unlimited bandwidth for 2 years… yet I don’t think we really needed that much.

Anyone got any ideas for cheap hosting, that is fast and offers at least 5 email accounts, ftp stuff etc??

Not sure what else I should look for in a host, but any ideas would be great.

Also, if you still have say one year left on a hosting package, can you transfer the hosting to a new core domain??

I am currently using Heart Internet's Reseller Account, Unlimited Domains, Bandwidth and webspace for £29.99 a month.

Iv'e never had a problem with them but I have heard some bad press about their "unlimited service" being not unlimited (read the small print) but as you stated you werent going to need excessive amounts this might be a good idea for you.

Without knowing what you exactly need, you don't mention hard drive usage or an estimate of bandwidth use, I can't give you the best advice.

Why not look at clook.co.uk copper shared hosting package £30/year 100mb hard drive space and 2Gb bandwidth.

You will have to ask your current host about a partial refund if you have unused pre-paid hosting but be prepared to lose that. As for your domain, you can have it transferred to a different registrar and do your renewals, etc, through them.
