  Using Meir Hosting

Hi

Help needed from anyone with a meir hosting reseller account.

I have a Reseller 500 package with Meir Hosting and I am currently trying to host a few sites with it. I am currently hosting three very small sites with minimal traffic. The way I set up a new site is to create a new account and then point my domain to the required dns. The problem is I seem to have reached my limit because when I try to set up a new account, it says I have reached my bandwidth limit. Each account is given an allowance of 4000Mb bandwidth by default I think so it would seem I am exceeding my allowance. Does anyone know if there is a way to alter the bandwidth allowance for each account so that I can add more sites because at the moment I don't come close to using my full bandwidth allowance traffic wise.

Any help appreciated.

Don

What are you using as the reseller interface? If it is WHM (Web Host Manager) you can set up custom packages with limits on bandwidth and with disk quotas set up. At the time of hosting a new domain you just select one of your custom packages and it tells you how many more are available according to your usage.

If you use some other hosting control panel then I can't help you as I have only used WHM but there may be someone else here who can help.

Thanks for the reply Deltrus, I've created a new custom account and changed the bandwidth and that seems to have solved my problem. Cheers!

That's spot on - define a new package which you are happy with and apply it to each hosting account you set up. I have two packages defined - "smallsite" and "bigsite", which keeps things simple.

Meirhosting are pretty good at keeping up with security upgrades and latest versions of things like cpanel and the other server software, which is great, but as a result hings occasionally change between versions - it used to be possible to set all accounts bandwidth to "unlimited", which made things much easier, but that has gone now. I think the system also doesn't allow you to allocate more bandwidth than you have available - although again, it used to.

One thing to watch for is the default email address - by default it is set to bounce back incoming emails to unspecified names @ your server - you'll need to change the value to your account name to make the catch-all work.

Meirhosting do operate a few different servers though so it might be different for different servers.

Meirhosting are ace - if you struggle Dave will soon answer your questions - there's a ticket sysem on the main meirhosting wesite.
