All my websites are down i asked 1&1 whats going on after a dozen calls in 12 hrs i got this email

Quote:
You have been moved due to the amount of usage you are putting onto the servers to an auxiliary server. We suggest you either upgrade to dedicated hosting (either managed or root), or move to a webhost which will better suit your needs. Sorry for the inconvenience and have a nice day.
My main site i host only get 1500 uv the rest under 200 uv i am on their professional package, so really confused how i can be using to many resource on their server .

I am now left with no websites, with only option to upgrade I am no techie so not sure what a dedicated hosting service means

Something sounds very wrong as the PRO Hosting allows 200 gig of traffic per month and 30 gig web space, 24/7 Express Support, Free 0800 24/7 Emergency Support and a Money Back Guarantee.

Working on your information above the maths would not add up unless you have about 5000 websites.

I would check your bandwidth use for the month. This can be done via your admin area.

I know 1and1 dont like Traffic Sites so this could also be the reason, but unlikely due to your low uv stats. Are you hosting videos etc as this will quickly use up your 200 gig. This said, they would have to be popular though. If you do have traffic sites this would be in violation of your contract with 1and1

I think it will be a sever error at 1and1. The telesales operator probably has no idea what is happening, and has sent out the e-mail. You may find all returns to normal today.

I would suggest you get back on the phone and raise a complaint about the service or rather lack of it. Complaints normally resolve issues pretty quickly.

1. Check your usage via the 1and 1 Admin panel
2. Are you running sites that violate your terms and conditions
3. Raise a complaint by phone and the follow this up with e-mail.

I am hosted by 1&1 on Pro and have had great service and support from the customer service team. Thats why this sounds rather strange.

Check bandwidth usage, ask whether it was bandwidth, storage or CPU. Demand a log of the offending one with explanation of cause.

Contact support manager, complain.

If it really does need an upgrade, they should help you in upgrading to a VPS (virtual private server)

You got any scripts that are resource hungry or cpu time hungry?
You might have something eating away at the server time

If it's a cpu hungry script somewhere, the treatment is still outrageous. If they valued their customers they wouldn't turn around and just cut them off like that, they'd work with them to address the problem. Disgusting behaviour.

But if one script on a shared server is killing dozens of other people's sites then they have to do something.

I had problems once because the server I shared was being sucked dry by someone elses script, it was crippling my sites and that wasn't fair.

If you're using datafeeds or scripts you prob need to get your own server.

I had the same problem (assuming it's CPU) and the host just shut off that particular script and let me know - didn't cut off everything!

Look at VPS's first, they're more than likely to cater for your needs and will be much cheaper.

Re: HELP 1&1 close my sites due to pressure on their server!!

It is not bandwidth supposidely too many vistors try to access at the same time? I just my pageviews, across the board i got about 27,000 PV last friday but the pages are simple html page, no video or music etc so admit a bit more than the 1500 uv on my main site
They are trying to push me to get onto dedicated server as I am using too much memory? they mentione spurr ( spelling ) memory
I use databases for Wordpress and postnuke sites, none of these sites get much traffic, I just want 1&1 to show me where the memory / bandwidth use is.
I cant seem to find this info on their control panel anyone know if you can see where memory use / bandwidth use is.

They have agreed to switch me back on, but still say i need to upgrade, but until I know where the problem is I do not want to just upgrade, I am not intentially running sites which use lots of resources.

Have you phoned and asked them what the problem is?

It is unreasonable for them to simply say you are using too much resources, they need to be more specific.

I guess it is a script problem but would prefer them to switch the script off not my whole portfolio of websites!!!
I am not sure what to ask 1&1 i guess i need to find out what script is bleeding cpu resources.
Is there anyway to know what the cpu uses is on 1&1
