Now that I've started to get a bit of a collection of domain names, I can't really just scrounge around using the odd bit of webspace that friends for family might have lying around.

But I'm curious as to how you all host multiple sites. I've heard people mentioning re-seller accounts - is that what pretty much everyone does? How much does that roughly cost each year?

    Thanks alot for your help.

Most people use re-seller packages, Streamline do one for £99 a year The Bulk User (Reseller) Package - Resellers - Streamline.net - The home of good value web hosting

Or you could uses a dedicated server, but thats quite a bit more money starting from around £50 a month for something basic

I use a VPS, which is a virtual server. Unlike a reseller account you get full control of the server, can install your own software, change the config in any way you want, write your own scripts etc.

The only difference to a normal server is that there a number of VPS's to 1 physical server. So its similar to a reseller account, but offers you much more freedom to do what you want.

Mines quite a high spec, and only £25 a month.

Thanks for the replies - I have to say that Streamline does look very good. I'm not sure I'm ready to go for the full re-seller account yet, but their individual hosting packages do look very tempting (just trying to get my first site up).

I've been disappointed in the past with some UK hosts charging up to £15 or £20 a month before they'll give you a database, but Streamline does seem to be much more in line with US prices.

I have UK and US reseller accounts with eukhost and resellerzoom, respectively.

Very cheap and more than happy with both.

I wouldn't touch streamline with a barge pole after my experience with them. The worst host I've ever had the luck to spend my money with. Cost me the best part of £200 to find out they're both sub standard and badly setup.

I've just started using eukhost and am a lot happier with them.

Personally, I don't have any reseller accounts, I just use multiple hosts with addon domain capability. I have some in the UK and some in the US. If you want to target the UK with a .com domain, you'll need UK hosting. Vidahost do a good package with multiple domains as well as eukhost. Don't touch streamline!

I use 1&1 , they allow as many domains as you like (and you can register domains in the client's name) , they also provide a quite generous no of subdomains.

I did try a reseller but unless you are dealing in large volumes it just seemed overly complicated for me.

There's a few Thanksgiving promotions going on at the moment so it's a good time to buy hosting.
There's also a big list of discount coupons here Web Hosting Diary: Web Hosting Coupons
