They are only saying what your password is in the letter I never use the Control Panel but have a username which is hardcoded in my FTP setup which I tried using but it didnt work. So it may be my id is something else. Obviously cant get hold of them to find out though so pretty stuck at the moment. Only had one letter so far for one of my domains, hope to get a few more tomorrow.

What everyone seems to be forgetting is that fasthosts suggested we all change our passwords back in October. The letters and forced password changes are only applicable for those people who haven't already done it. If you've already changed them then you're not affected.

Bit late onto this but glad I moved away.. must be back in 2001 or so.

They had an outage and with little support feedback and all my sites were down 3 weeks! Try explaining that to your clients!

Re: Fasthosts - a complete joke

hmm took me 1 hour 28 minutes to get through and amazingly the password we had then worked fine

strangely.. bearing in mind I'd tried it around 10/15 times over the previous 5 days it's a bit weird it chose that exact moment to work fine when he said.. hmm it worked for me.. try again

not a happy bunny but yup fair point they said change passwords.. but then again who knew there'd be the dance of death to sort em out if you didn't change them when told..

most companies over inform users of changes so I guess we're all a bit numb to "must change or else amputation will occurr" type emails that usually are trying to sell/upgrade/waffle and aren't as serious as the headline would lead you to believe

I think a YOU MUST CHANGE THEM otherwise we are shutting down your website would have worked better rather than a half hearted message to do it!

Re: Fasthosts - a complete joke

Their phone lines seem totally broken.
When they did work on sunday it took me FOUR HOURS on hold to get through.
That's not 24/7 support. It's "We'll put you on hold until someone comes in to work".

I wish there was some sort of mention in SLA/TOS etc. 24/7 is meaningless.
