  UK recommendation

Ive been using the Hostgator reseller account for the last few years and I am very happy with the service.
However geolocation is going to be a much bigger seo factor soon (apparently) and hostgator are US based and my sites are UK based.
Can anyone recommend decent hosting based in the UK?

Thanks

Has the need for UK hosting actually been proven anywhere? I'm a bit of a numpty when it comes to this issue? I've been reading around the topic a bit to try and get a definitive answer and this article seems to say the issue with hosting location only really becomes an issue when your domain is not country specific. Would anyone disagree with this or have evidence to prove it?

As I say I'm far far away from being an expert in this issue so I'm not saying you should have UK hosts for sites in the UK just finding it hard to find evidence that gives a definitive answer!

Country specific domain name has nothing to do with search engine rankings . The main concern is the server on which your website is hosted and the server location. For example: Just enter "UK Web Hosting" in google.co.uk and you will see which domains have better results.

I think Genius Host are pretty darn good - very reasonable too.

All my domains are registered with 123-reg at the mo. Ive been looking at their dedicated server hosting although its quite pricey it would be easier keeping things together.
At the moment im only wanting to put about 3 sites on a UK server for geo seo reasons.

Does anyone use the 123-reg dedicated server package?

I'm looking at UK hosts too. Genius host looks good but I think they're engaging in a bit of overselling - 3GB transfer, unlimited domains, 33p per month.
I'm starting out so I need a host with unlimited hosted domains but not as much storage or bandwidth. At the moment, web hosting uk looks to be the best for me in terms of pricing but I'm looking for more reviews.

123 have had some very bad press over the last few months. I would suggest you keep your domains there but look elsewhere for your hosting.

I use vidahost.co.uk and they're pretty flawless since I switched to them, nothing's too much trouble, they got great value and their support is excellent. Also eukhost is pretty good as well. Dataflame.co.uk is bargain bunker, but works ok as well. Not the best, but ok for the price...

All customers at GeniusHost can use 100% of the resources they have bought. We do not offer what we can't provide. Some hosts will try and provide gigabytes and gigabytes of space and bandwidth for a ridiculously low amount, and then cut you off for breaking their Fair Use Policy when you actually try to use what you have been promised. We've never cut someone off like that before, and we do not intend to.

There is little profit made on the Basic package, which is the one I believe you are referring to. You may ask what the point of us providing it is - our answer would be that we believe that the people who are satisfied with our Basic package will tell their friends, and there is a chance their friends may buy one of our more expensive packages. We have a lot of loyal customers who are very satisfied with the service, and we know that most the people on our top package were recommended by a friend on a lower package.
