Yes, they're inept, offer a flawed service, have a non-standard set-up, are unreliable, etc. Don't touch streamline with anyone else's bargepole, let alone your own... Get a proper host and the problems will disappear.

I dont think there should be any problems with running affiliate store scripts. Just make sure the PHP and MySQL version you require and the one you have on the server.

They Totally Refuse to Host the Script. I'm Pretty new to this. If anyone can recommend Affiliate Scripts and decent Hosts it would be appreciated.

Many Thanks,
Ken

Can you elaborate on this please?

I'm in the process of buying a reseller account with them after having countless problems with Easily, Heart and Dream Hosting. I thought I might be better off with a reseller account.

I have a football site: Harriers-Online: - Welcome to the wonderful world of Kidderminster Harriers FC on Easily. 500mb of space but the bandwidth costs me £15pm per 5gb. Last Thursday - transfer deadline day - I used up 2gb of that in a couple of hours.

I have asked Streamline about the unlimited bandwidth that they offer and they have assured me that it IS unlimited. They also said that uptime is 99%.

Are you saying they are deliberately mis-leading their customers?

I currently host 20 of my sites with Streamline and I have to say that I'm getting really annoyed with them. One of my sites has been down for the last 36 hours and nobody is doing anything about it. I don't care if its a Bank Holiday, if I'm working then sombody there damn well should be! They 'guarantee 99.9% uptime', yet at least one of my sites seems to be having problems of some kind all the time! I've repeatedly asked for details about the uptime guarantee and they've completly ignored the question each time I ask it. Half of my hosting is up for renewal within a few days, can anybody reccommend a better host which won't break the bank? Streamline seemed such a good deal, but their service is terrible.

Sorry for the rant,
Mike

  Re: Streamline

Cyanide, I agree with you as i had the similar experience with streamline.net.
After doing a bit of research i found eukhost a better provider than the streamline but i did faced (or still facing) some problems on regular basis (mostly related to the emails).

But they are worth trying. Hope you dont have problems in dealing with the indian executives, as their support team seems to be backed by the indian experts.

  Re: Streamline

You might have seen an earlier reply to a question of mine on here. In the end I was financially forced to go with Streamline but decided against the reseller account and just moved the one site over. I have 12 others waiting for somewhere to go now.

I've now been with them for around three weeks and the first problem arose when I tried to move my phpBB forum across. The original backup from Easily was perfect and installed on the SL servers perfectly.

It wasn't until next day that a problem emerged on the forum that meant clearing it off the db and loading a fresh version (the ignore user hack crashed the whole lot). I downloaded the backup but when I came to re-install it with Bigdump it wasn't possible because the backup was corrupted.

Luckily I had kept the original Easily backup and got the board back on but minus two days worth (around 50 threads) of messages.

The next problem came with my contact forms, of which I have three for various interactive reasons. They just did not work and when I asked SL about it they said it was because they don't allow 3rd party software to access their servers. I tried to change it to a sendmail format but their sendmail is unique to them and cannot be worked around.

I had to scrap all the form software and have basically thrown £20 away. My forms are now processed externally and thankfully they work well.

Now comes the cock up of this weekend. Two db servers down all weekend and no one in until Tuesday to sort them out.

I get nothing but an automated response from SL with the ironic postscript at the end of 'Thank you for contacting Streamline. We hope you are having a wonderful weekend'

I shall probably stick with them for the time being but I'll be seriously looking elsewhere meantime.
