You could always set up another account at UKReg, and put in fake payment details such as the Visa test number 4111111111111111
Then transfer any domains you don't want to renew into this account, so they cannot be billed for when they expire.
UKreg have been resetting my domain names to auto renew. It came to my attention a couple of weeks ago when I was rebilled for a name I didnt want. I have always made sure that this feature is turned off. So I went through all my domain names again and turned this feature off .......it has just come to my attention today that they have charged me for another 2 names I didnt want , even though the names were originally reset to not renew before the renewal dates, making that 3 names in total. plus the fact there was no warning emails asking me to renew. I emailed them last time and they told me no refunds can be givin on domain names. What a crowd of cheating crooks.
Does anyone have any advice?

Good idea, but is that legal?
They did this to me as well, on a number of ocassions....so I rang our credit card company and told them to refuse any payments that this company requested as I felt that I had been dealt with fraudulently.
I don't see why it wouldn't be.Good idea, but is that legal?
You aren't taking money off anyone, the payment will simply fail, so it's not like your using someone elses card to pay for your domains.
You may be able to setup the new account without entering any card details which would be even easier, but haven't set one up for a while so can't remember.
I successfully sued UKReg some years ago over some domains they charged me for but didn't get. I had no choice but to sue because they failed to respond to emails phone calls and letters. Frankly I wouldn't touch them with the proverbial bargepole but I've bought hundreds of domains through 123-reg since then without any problems.
Have got to say in their defence that there phone support have been quite good. Have to wait a while to get through sometimes, but they usually can do what you want when you speak to somone. A couple of months ago I had a problem with a domain not registering, and spoke to a proper techy at 11.50pm on a saturday night, who then rung nominet and got the problem sorted. Was expecting a "wait until monday" response, but he got it all sorted out there and then.I had no choice but to sue because they failed to respond to emails phone calls and letters
I use them for my domains, and whilst there are a few problems now and then they are usually pretty good at sorting them.
I tried contacting them through phone this morning and was put into a queue of 22 people. And the time before that a few weeks ago, the queue was over 50.
Fair enough, I suppose i`ve been lucky, as the times I`ve contacted them recently have all been out of hours, and was impressed to find someone working at those times.I tried contacting them through phone this morning and was put into a queue of 22 people. And the time before that a few weeks ago, the queue was over 50.
I`d try setting up a new account without putting any payment details in, and then transfer the domains to that account, that should sort out the renewal problem.
For anyone who has problems with domains not registering, although they seem to have registered on UK Reg's system, the problem comes from not entering valid nameservers for the domain at the time of registration. It didn't used to matter, but now nameservers have to be valid or the domain won't register.
The solution to this, is to copy and page in UK Reg's nameservers which they show under the nameserver text boxes. Use these to register the domain, so it will register successfully, and then change it to the name servers you want afterwards.
That's annoying but better that way then the 123reg issue I have at the moment
I just found 2 domains pending deletion that we really wanted to renew and for some reason were not.. am not a happy bunny as there is NO way we would have left them hanging .. yet are now faced with a £200 renewal fee for each as it's a "manual" task..
hmmm is it that the paperwork is at the top of a mountain and some fat knacker has to climb it to get it ?.. can't really see any other justification for a £200 "fee".. (more like a fine IMO) .. it's a joke.. £200 !.. can see me transferring out of there if this stands.
I'd rather pay the odd £5.99 I didn't want to than £200 a pop when 123regs' auto renew option fails![]()
