Domain Retrievals

Hi

A client that I have been doing some work with has asked me about the possibilities of retrieving domain names for them, both for one that has expired of their own and one that is currently owned by someone else.

I don't know too much about this area and was wondering if anyone could advise me on:-
- what is entailed
- how much work might be involved
- any costs
-what would be a reasonable fee to charge

Do they have intellectual property rights in the domain? If they are just generic terms then it could be impossible to retrieve from someone else unless they are prepared to sell it to you.

Often when a domain has "expired", the registrant is still able to renew it with the company they registered it with.
