I'm often seeing people request hosting reviews on the board in one place or another. I've setup a quick hosting reviews site at My Web Hosting Reviews and anyone kind enough to add a review will get a dofollow backlink :tup
if your host isn't on there drop me a pm and I'll add them.
Thanks,
Mike

What an excellent and straight forward site - Nice one!
Hope you get plenty of reviews (mine's added).
Yeah, it's a review template/software package, see http://www.wpreviewsite.com/
Hi Mike,

It is a really basic template and is currently out of the box of wpreviewsite. I have a few things I'd like to add when I get time but don't plan on changing it much.
Hopefully a simple interface, with honest reviews and a UK focus adds something a bit different to the other review sites out there. Plus as we've seen today, the question is always being asked on this forum as to who people recommend!
When looking at review sites seem to detract from the reviews and more to pushing users to signing up under their affiliate links.
If it works great, if not nothing major lost :tup
Looking for link swaps and article exchanges on sites relating to cycling, bikes, mountain bikes, cycling equipment etc. Drop me a PM.
I think the problem with hosting review site in my experience is that the affiliate schemes are so generous for hosting providers it's hard to find something impartial.
For you I was wondering, a lot of hosts affiliate schemes seem to only except people who are hosting with them, will that limit your earning potential ?

Hi Mike,
You can easily earn from such website.
Why don't you offer text link or banner ad on your website ?

Great idea, have just left a few reviews of those hosting companies I've used. This would be a great service for the newbies reading Smingle's thread.
By adding banners etc to the site it would seem biased towards whichever advertiser I gave banner space to either through a private deal or an affiliate link. People would wonder:
- Is this company a better host?
- Do they have a better affiliate scheme?
- Did they pay a lump sum for premium ad space?
I don't think that advertising in that sense fits in with what I imagined on the site, and in fact this kind of thing was what I personally disliked about existing review sites.
Its for the same reasons that I've refrained from adding any reviews myself, including of Heart Internet who the site is hosted with.
I do realise that I'll probably lose out on commissions but I think the site will provide a better resource long term because of this decision.

Mike,
I run a site that would compliment your Hosting site .. Affiliate Merchants Directory.
If you'd like to write an article about your service I'll publish it on that site as I think it would help newbies out, which is the prime purpose of my AM Directory.
Ps. Your PM box is full.

Hi Mike,
You can create number of categories like Dedicated Servers, VPS Hosting, Windows Hosting, Reseller Hosting etc and sale category listing. You can drop the banner ad option but I think you should ad a sponsors or resources section in the right navigation. You can sale text link ads under this section.
Every single review should have the website url. It would allow the readers to cross check the website. Your website visitors will trust your website and will often visit your website to read genuine feedbacks.

I've actually had a think about this and will be taking some of it on board and you have some good points. Over the next week or so I'll be adding banners, but they will be for each hosts specific page.
i.e. EUKHost page will have a EUKHost banner on and no other banners, likewise with Heart, yourselves etc. I think it will help conversions and make the site a bit more attractive.
I'll also look at adding in the urls and an easier way to find vps, dedicated servers etc even if it's only through tagging.
Thanks for the feedback though, much appreciated! :-)
