Belstaff was first founded back in 1924 by Harry Grosberg in Staffordshire and has since become a name synonymous with quality, technology and design. The brand has seen huge success with an enviable international following, including motorcycle enthusiasts, screen idols, stuntmen and modern day A-listers, such as George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Christian Bale and Johnny Depp. In addition, Ewan McGregor has been seen sporting a Belstaff jacket on his latest motorbike adventure, The Long Way Down.

It is therefore no surprise that the label was a firm favourite of Steve McQueen, movie hero, much-loved rebel and legend, aka The King of Cool. In the 1960’s McQueen paid several hundred dollars for his Belstaff Trialmaster jacket. Worn in films such as The Great Escape and The Getaway and on numerous bike journeys around the world, it was his jacket of choice both on and off-screen. McQueen has become as much a part of the history of the brand as the jacket itself.

This Autumn Winter, my-wardrobe.com has bought the exact replica of a jacket worn by the revolutionary Che Guevara on his epic motorcycle journey across Latin America. This wax cotton belted jacket was initially produced back in the 1950’s – it has quickly become a symbol of rebellion, adventure and independence.

Other notable names associated with the brand include Marlon Brando, James Dean and Lawrence of Arabia. It is easy to see why this iconic fashion brand has become the hallmark of rebels, mavericks, and Hollywood stars alike. The timeless style and shape have changed little over the years – proof enough that Belstaff can survive the changing tide of fashions.
