Please excuse this post as it is my first one, I want to introduce myself and also tell you a little bit more about envirofone.com. My name is Rob Fox and I
am the Head of envirofone.com. envirofone.com is a division of Eazyfone Group, one of the UK's largest mobile phone recycling companies and we recycle or reuse over 500,000 mobile phones each year.
We launched envirofone.com in March 2006 to encourage members of the UK general public to recycle old mobile phones for cash. Up until now there has been a number of recycling schemes that have asked for old mobiles for charity but they generally only attract a few mobile phones as there is nothing in it for donor.
It is estimated that there are over 80 million unused handsets left lying around in drawers or desks and this is growing every year by about 20 million with only 3 million been recycled.
So far we have paid out over £500,000 to users and £45,000 in charity donations.
How the campaign works
envirofone.com is really quick and easy to use. The user looks up their old handsets, sees how much they are worth and trades them in, the whole process is designed to take just two minutes.
Payment is made to the user once we have received their old handset and tested it to make sure it still works and meets our terms and conditions. On average 95 per cent of old handsets are accepted at full value. What is very important is that what the user sees is what they receive we do not make any deductions or attempt to change values. More importantly for affiliates is that the other 5% are nearly always offered a lower price and if the user accepts this you will still receive your affiliate payment.
User Demographics
Users are spread throughout the country and across all age ranges. Generally speaking our top users are aged between 23 and 45, younger users generally try ebay first and then when they fail to sell their handset on it come back to us.
The Affiliate Network
We have joined the Webgains affiliate network and have already had nearly 100 web sites join the network, after a few teething problems getting the technology sorted it is now up and running and we are expecting it to pay significant dividends in the future. To illustrate this point we have one direct Affiliate that uses source tracking who has received over £10,000 in payments from us in the past four months.
Marketing The Campaign
There are a number of ways in which you may wish to market the campaign. Generally speaking most of our affiliates find using email or e newsletter communications very effective and it is the same as many other campaigns in that the more it is communicated the better. Users often ask what is the catch and as yet we have not found one - users are paid cash, we get the phone to refurbish and resell and we also give a donation to charity if the user wants.

Depending on your campaign plan we may be able to support it with additional things such as competition prizes etc. Before we agree what this is we will need to discuss how you will market the campaign and what results envirofone.com is looking for - obviously we will not give prizes for just one trade.
Results
Do not expect overnight results - it can take up to ten days for us to receive the handset from users and a further few days to test them. Affiliate payments are confirmed as soon as we receive the handsets and test them. This is before the user is paid.
