Our site is more than just a tackle shop though, there are pages of straightforward advice and information for sea anglers, tackle advice for beginners and even an entertaining fishing game which has proven very successful as a promotional tool.

We offer a basic 7% commission to affiliates, rising to 8.5% for more than 25 sales per month, 10% for more that 50 sales and 12% for more than 100 sales. The program also has a product feed in place and has a 90 day cookie.

    Cheers John.

To help affiliates with their promotions, Sea Fishing Supplies have provided a promotional code which provides users with 10% off all purchases over £15. The code is SFSDISCOUNT (case sensitive) and it's valid until 31st December 2008.

Branded codes are on their way to the usual suspects .

Just a quickie and this will need some work your end:

Webgains links all of this as the category - Hunting & Fishing so I went use the merchant's own categories...but they list as:

    6 of more great gear
    2 of hard lures
    2 of filler
    3 of soft lures
    2 of accessories
    3 of beach
    2 of beads & crimps
    3 of boat
    2 of booms
    3 of braid
    2 of monofilament
    2 of pirks & jigs
    3 of tools
    2 of weights & leads

In addition their merchant category number:
44 was blank, 39 I had to delete as it pointed to the rapala normark fillet glove sml but pointed to an image and the product was blank. In addition category 48 was entitled english, so I changed that to live bait box as that was what it advertised.

I can't list a feed with one category and the merchant categories are unusable without heavy editing my end and in addition some like the lures, braid etc can be lumped into a lures category and a braid category etc.

Anything you can do at your end otherwise I'll have to spend an hour or two each time renaming categories and splittng the feed into usable categories by moving products from one catgeory to another.

You can see here what I mean at The Bait Shop - Fishing Tackle & Equipment - Sea Fishing Equipment

    Hi John
thanks for pointing this out and I'll bring it to the attention of Sachin on Monday to look into further and update you.
We list both the webgains and the merchant categories in the feeds so as to give affiliates the chance to understand the categorisation and maybe utilise the merchant's categories where the WG taxonomy is limited, until we add further subcategories to the top level one.

    have a good weekend

Thanks Hero, you're a star. Looks like a nice merchant, just need to ensure their categories are up to scratch. I use a category splitter which breaks down their categories and sub categories. In this case it reads from the last category which they list as a sub-sub catgeory and that's the problem. Can't have it every time but I'd have to rewrite my script to read the middle categorisation. Far easier to read the last.

Never argue with idiots. They just drag you down to their level and then beat you with their experience.

judging by the weather, I'd say cinnamon to keep him warm!
"Exotic" is wrongly associated with warm climate, mojitos, bikinis etc...

Just a thumbs up for them.
I don't have any sites suitable to promote them but I've bought loads of tackle from them over the years. Easy to use and always delivered quickly.

    Cheers

Yup, cinnamon & a hot water bottle to keep me warm; it was 2C when i left for the office this morning!!

John, thanks for the feedback. I've just sent you a quick email. If you can get back to me with your suggestions that would great. I've also sent the merchant an email and i'm awaiting a response.

In the mean time, if you need anything else to help you promote the program please do not hesitate to ask.

    Cheers,

I think Sachin we should seriously throw this one to the whole forum.

The question put to me folks was:

......we should be able to expand our
'Hunting & Fishing' category further by 4-5 sub cats. I know this isn't
a huge amount but this is the most we can stretch the category to. Would
it be possible for you to suggest some sub-categories to add to allow us
to provide you with the information you need to use fishing related
    feeds as effectively as possible?

So come on folks. Help webgains (and me) out with some suggested categories to effectively promote fishing related datafeeds.

Way to go Sachin! Also many thanks to Suzanne from Sea Fishing Supplies.

The test feed you sent me is absolutely lovely to use. Especially linked to the new merchant categories. Email sent for suggestions to increase from 1 to 6 categories for the network categorisation.

Just downloaded the feed and wold like to raise one point.

The category changes are a great improvement, however the reels as in the sub categories 'accessories', 'fixed spool' and 'multiplier' are put in the main category 'Rods'.

    Hope this makes sense.

Apart from that, keep up the good work.

The Bait Shop - Fishing Tackle & Equipment I am using the merchants own categories as they have been tidied up. Webgains can increase network categorisation by up to 5-6 categories but no more.
