Gee Wiz, but in saying that your buy more than just a text link from a PR 8/10 site, your also buying a link on a page with 90 Million page views a month. That's got to be worth the effort, maybe!

Surely it depends on a whole load of other factors, not least:

a) Is the site relevant to your subject area?
b) Do you control how the link is set up - i.e. will the link text contain your keywords?
c) How many other sites are also linked here?
d) How much actual traffic will the site send you.

Calculating this would be very time consuming (gain in PR + extra traffic), but if the site is busy, you could at least work out: If each visitor to my site is worth 10p, and this site costs £100, they need to send me 1000 visitors, or 3 per day...

If you have multiple sites, it is always much easier to experiment with one site, and then see...
