  Effort In/Results Out...?

Hi,

I'm really looking for some advice here. I want to start treating my website a bit like a part-time job, and hopefully get some extra income.

I want to dedicate about 2 hours a night, and say 4/5 hours on a Sunday purely to the site.....My Question is this...

What exactly are the kind of things I should be doing to make best use of my time..?? I have Mega Submitter 2000 software but that doesnt seem to generate much traffic, and no matter what I do, I am only making a sad pathetic 5 hits a day on average.... :-(

My Tradedoubler balance is also only £5.05, and that has taken me 9 months!! (I know some of you are making that in 10 minutes).

Can someone take me under their wing and offer me some advice as to how I can improve, and what sort of things I should be doing when I "spend time" working on my site..??

Also, I am working on a "no to low" budget at the moment so whatever promotional tips you may give me they will need to be either free or very inexpensive....

Hope someone can help get me on the right tracks....

Thanks
Brian.

There really is no need to spend any money to make a resonable sum of income.. sure ive spent money in the past but if I had to do it all again I could do it without spending much.. obviously you should take your hosting seriously but that should only be a few pounds a month.

Concentrate on content, make your site as big as possible .. lots of pages , unique page titles, meta tags help (not so important with google though), concentrate on niche keywords etc etc.. really its all common sence. Quality counts, if you can create something with alot of quality content then your onto a winner.. of course being unique helps but thats alittle tricky.

Being persistant is the main thing, it took me along time to make anything and there where plently of times I thought about giving up.

I agree with Aquanuke.

The only thing I've ever paid for (apart from domain name reg and hosting) is some Google and Espotting PPC direct to merchant's sites and that was only because the products would have sold out by the time Google listed the page.

I've got good ranking on a number of good keywords and I haven't paid a thing to get them.
