  Lycos Kiti Links

Hi there,

Has anyone got any feedback / advice on this scheme by Lycos? It seems quite good value for money, but I'm not sure of the popularity of Lycos nowadays etc?

Thanks for any information.

Josh (Advanced MP3 Players)

-------------------------------------------------------

The TPC Group and Lycos are now offering a cost effective, highly
visible promotional placement on the Lycos search engine called KITI
Link. KITI (Keyword Integrated Text Insertion) is a placement that is
displayed every time a user searches for the registered search term.

1) The product guarantees companies a placement on the right hand
side of the page under certain keyphrases, which can be registered by
one and only one company. These KITI Links are being secured at a
phenomenal rate and are on a first come, first served basis.

2) We are now offering the most popular typed in phrases.
MP3 PLAYER
MP3 PLAYERS
PORTABLE MP3 PLAYERS

The Kiti Link can be found on www.Lycos.co.uk and typing in any
phrase as Amazon and Halifax have this type on link on every results
page on Lycos. The Kiti Link is being Promoted at the price £597.00 +
vat for three key phrases.

good to know David cheers.

I had them on the phone this week and it sounded decent value but they just didn't convince me enough that they actually had the traffic for it to be worthwhile.

I asked how many searches they had a month on a term and they said they just use Overture as a guideline.... how does that work!?

Hi David,

Thanks for your message.

Just out of interest, what search terms did you sign up for?

Did you join the scheme on a trial basis or have you signed up for a year?

Thanks again.

  Kitti Links

Josh, Take a look at this discussion taking place at Webmasterworld.

www.webmasterworld.com/forum7/768.htm

Kitti links/Lycos don't appear to offer a good ROI.

Thanks for that link.

"If you're buying it to stop them calling you every day (its a small price to pay) it won't work- they'll still call you. "

I'm getting sick of their cold-calling as well, like several people at WebmasterWorld. Businesses that have to resort to such desperate tactics to sign up customers usually don't have a worthwhile product in the first place.

Avoid them - or else it'll only encourage more companies engaged in 'telephone spam'

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the advice.

I so nearly joined, no papers signed yet, so I've just told them I want to cancel. Pheww!

There is some high quality impartial well researched information regarding Lycos banner, Kiti links and demographics of the site on AdMain.co.uk's page for Lycos advertising.

  Re: Lycos Kiti Links

Iv tried em all! mirago, freeindex, e spoting, splut, scoot, vendora, limey, toxic lemon, great british pages, lycos, overture, adwords, thomsons.......... Its funny loads of them dont exist anymore! Cant believe Splut is still going lol id have though it would be the next casualty after Limey bowed out!

The only two worth bothering with are Google and Yell.com - The rest are'nt likely to nab you one customer and they'll make you pay for it too!

Have to say if you can get Google right with the Mapping, Adsense and eventually your organic listings the traffic bumbles in fine. Yell.com is slightly hit and miss and the customer service sucks once they have your money! Its worth testing though by buying one priority listing and rolling out a little more once your happy your pulling the punters in. I was a little over enthusiastic with my ads and il be scaleing back next year and ditching what doesnt work!

Cant beat good old flyers and letters though The cheapest and best! Nowt beats a decent sales letter and a second class stamp!
