I dunno the answer but also anyone know how to find PR 8 and PR 9 sites... its kind of hard to hunt them down.
BTW: I was reading on webmaster forum.. that one company was charging $2000 for a link on their web site. They were a PR 9 site and were guaranting you to be PR 9. Worth it ? Maybe.
Never pay for a link for the PR - pay for the traffic it will generate for you
The PR of the referring site may get wiped by Google if they find out they are selling links. Theres a case in the US where google did just that & the site, Search King is suing saying they have been discriminated against.
One other thing - a single link from a PR9 site aint going to give you a PR9. 7 maybe.
I logged in to write just such a post. You beat me to it. I'm having gross difficulty in getting any links to my sites. I've managed a few but only 4s and a single 5, and because my sites are new and unranked yet I don't even know if it's made a difference.
I'm trying to target blogs, because there are a few 7s, 8s and even 9s, but not many of them like affiliate sites. Next up I shall try threats, blackmail and possibly even kidnap.
It makes me laugh (not) when Google does things like wipe a site's PR for selling links. The failure is clearly with the Google ranking algorithm and not the antics of the site in question. I mean, what would happen if you rated the quality of other things simply by popularity. Britney Spears a goddess of music? Sunny Delight the finest beverage in the world? Butlins the best holiday resorts in the UK? McDonalds the best restaurant... etc. etc. (add your own here)
Its basically just a shopping search engine / directory, its new, but trying to get it established with a good PR - have links from a few PR5's and PR6's but looking for a few more..
Just really after a text link for maybe three Months..
Just browse the google version of ODP. Order by page rank, and then just drop a mail to some of the top ones asking for their rate card for a text link.
Although I haven't had a chance to put this into action yet been kicking around the idea of buying text ads on blogs. Typically Google likes blogs, favouring their sites due to fresh content and some of these have some nice PR.
Haven't found many UK specific blogs but there are one or two.
