  website stats?

I don't know if this is a bit of topic but anyway. I know you can get stats for your website that tells if someone is from the UK, USA, Italy etc. But is there stats that is just for the Uk that can tell where people are coming from like Glasgow, London, Manchester etc...?

Thanks!

no is the short answer...

however if you have the time you could make something (not saying your directly) that tells you for many ISP's what POP they used to go online as things like BT OpenWorld give out address for IP's in certain areas of the country.

But not fool proof, for example my static IP would make you think I come online in London, when I am in fact here in Glasgow also.. depends on the ISP and how they route things.

So sadly we are not able to know where people are.. you imagine how cool it would be to show an adverts based on where they came online, you could for example promote betting on a Scottish football team.. or show an advert that only people in Glasgow would get the meaning off.

Anyway if anyone knows a solution would love to here it but as yet I have never came up with one. Bad enough targeting adverts to the right country as even that has flaws.

I don't know if I have asked you this but are you a Rangers or Celtic man?

On another note though it would be good, for instance if I was getting a lot of London traffic then I could talk more about the London teams on my site, ie: Arsenal, Chelsea, West Ham etc..

Anyone knows if there is a way then tell me?

you could just put a vote on your site for your fav team , not perfect i know as not all would vote maybe you could turn it into a prize thing and all who vote get entered for the draw one vote per person

The poll idea would work for some users but not all. Everyday I get at least 1 visitor from everywhere so it would not be fair on them.

Good thinking though

you could for example tag your visitors cookie, using a poll or some sign-up method.

For example, when they turn up ask them where they are from and what team they like. You could then have the site start to show them banners and stuff based on that information. Would work better if you had a user base and they had to log on to use the site.

And as for Rangers or Celtic.. it's Rangers for me, so if your a Celtic fan don't hold it against me you might want to check out a site I am advisor for www.rangersfansvcelticfans.com now the site is running I better get my skates on and have them signed up to some real bookies to make money from

I should add if you plan to do that kind of advert showing based on what information the user gives you, make sure you are registered for the data protection act..

You want to keep yourself right on these things, only costs £35/yr and the form to get registered is dead easy to fill in.

I am a Rangers fan too, and that site you posted is in my favourites I think it's cool . I was gutted at the Uefa result and I'm a bit angry at De Boer for his big mouth.
