Getting 'em on the mailing list

Hi,

I'm having problems getting people to sign up to my mailing list.

I've designed a separate page which explains the list with all the "we do not sell" and "this is not a blatent commercial email" etc....but hardley anyone is signing up.

I have direct add to list forms on all the main/most popular pages plus on the top right of every page is a "join the mailing list" button.

The email they get is a whats happening in the community type email with a few offers attatched.....

The page for my mailing list is http://www.breasttalk.co.uk/promo.asp

Am i doing anything wrong?

Hardley getting anyone sign up......weekly sign ups are in single figures........this is from around 1100 unique visitors per day.

Thanks for any help,

Take Care

Carol

if you've address the
who
what
why
where
when
how

then maybe you need to incentivise it? Do a prize draw every month for a voucher or gift?

IMHO it's in the wrong place. We used to use a seperate page for registartions, with lots of info on, just like yours. We were lucky to sign up 1 in 20 visitors.

Then we moved it to the home page, simplified it. We timed how long it took to read the home page, and then sign up etc.

Now we convert much much better than 5% :O)

I know you have a sign up box on most pages. We tried the compromise of putting a small one in all the menu's too. It didn't work. Make it big, make it quick, make it the first thing they do....

One idea you could try is have an archive of all your previous newsletters. This would allow your visitors to view all the previous newsletters and would also of course provide additional content for Google to spider.
