  Unpromote site from overture

Again I've just noticed several sites losing out to some guy with the word wales in his domain name.
his site is using an overture feed and once again I'm losing money because of them.

What do I do?

Ok some of it is google's fault for happily listing sites which just list other sites with ads on the side and NO additional content.

Its SO frustrating.

Can I ask overture for some money for using my site in this way?

I've spent a lot of time putting unique content on sites only to find I'm wasting my time continually dealing with this sort of crap.

Its been other people and other sites and no doubt there'll be others coming along to fill the gap. I think this is bad stuff for affiliates and web writers.

I'm sorry mogga I don't quite get it - is the problem that they're 302 redirecting or just the 'snippets' of text that get displayed below the links?

To be honest if he's not actively messing with you through redirects i'd imagine it's really google's fault - after all, the results can't be too user friendly bar everything else. If you're listed on the site alongside the feeds are you getting any referrals from it?

How can you be sure you are losing out because of this other site and not other factors?

If you want to be removed form Overture then you'll need to add the following to robots.txt
Code:
User-agent: Slurp
Disallow: /
Just remember that Overture provide results to Yahoo - who are adding features to their search results which might increase their user base - so you might want to consider if you really think this site is causing you an issue big enough to warrant excluding yourself from Yahoo, or if they are proving a route for users to find your site.

You mentioned this site in relation to "asos fashion" in another thread. On a mathematical analysis of that page from the site, compared to the one of yours that you think should be shown in its place, do you feel yours is more strongly matched to 'asos fashion'? Eg, fashion mentioned 59 times, ASOS 12 times, asos fashion 3 times, lots of words related to fashion, etc
