You can also provide your website (or blog) with RSS feeds. This provides other webmasters an easy way to display content of your website on one of there pages.
And vice versa of course. This way you'll create a lot of links to your website.
A good way of promoting your dodgy blog is to drop it in as an example on a popular forum, hoping to catch some real visitors and a back link in the process.

May well be. I don't understand why people do this. It makes more sense to register on the forum to post stuff people actually care about and take part in the community leaving your site in your sig rather than try underhand tactics like this.
