New Website, new affiliate scheme - any thoughts?

Hi,

My name is Daniel and I've recently created a web-page for a competition that I'm running to win my home. My url is http://www.win-my-home.com and I'm thinking about setting up an affiliate scheme. I've looked at the various different major networks and they are very costsly for what I need. I only have 1 type of sales and it's always £50.

I've had media attention form the BBC and the Local news paper and the BBC have agreed to judge the contest and announce the winner live on TV.

I'm wanting affiliates as this will be good for business and will drive awareness as well as sales.

I've looked at my profit margins and I'm looking at a scheme that pays 10% (£5) per transaction. I understand that this is not mind blowing but due the the uniqness of the sales your returns will be high. I've 4000 tickets for sale so thats a £20,000 pot of money for affiliates (A nice little earner).

I've had a quote for work form Affiliate Window and their costs are too high, I looked and researched ClixGalore. I've heard mixed reviews about them from this forum and others but seem to be quote old (in internet terms) and so due to their low set-up and running costs it's highly tempting for merchants like myself.

Please can you either reply with you thoughts? Your Interests or anything you think I should know (including the affiliates netwrk I choose).

Or feel free to PM me or send me an e-mail

Many Thanks And I look forward to hopefully doing business.

Regards
Dan Bloy

Inhouse is definitely an alternative however you may find affiliates weary of signing up if this is a one time event. The affiliate industry is built on trust although I'm sure with the profit made from the sale and the media coverage you're not likely to scam affiliates of their fiver commissions so it could work.

I was looking at an inhouse program and found this site recommended elsewhere allaffiliatepro.com I can't vouch for it but it's a good starting point for comparison at least should you decide to go inhouse.

Hi Both,

In-house was something that I looked into but I feel it would take up too much time and unfortunatly this competition / web site is 'off the side of my desk' kinda of speak in that I have a full time job and other comitments so unable to dedicate a vast amount of time to it. And for something like this if it went wrong I would loose kudos!

Anybody thoughts on Affiliates intrest? What can I do to make Affiliates want this?

Cheers
Dan

Try affiliate future, their set up fee is reasonable and their monthly fees arent bad. They charge you 30% of the total commission paid to affiliates but have a good reputation with affiliates and are very friendly to work with.

Hi Bloy.d

I cant speak for other affiliates as competitions arnt my area but I think you may want to invest more to get your website right. Its a very good idea and if you have the press/BBC interested etc... it could easily take off and do very well for you. I just dont think the website image is flash enough for the prize on offer and the ticket prices and may put off potential customers.

If your looking at this as a long term business plan your best bet is to make less profit from your first go at it and invest to get your website 100% right as you can keep it going for future competitions and for a competition like this your website will be the most important selling tool available to you.

Hope this helps mate

Russell

Hi All,

Thank-you all for your feedback.

Over the last few weeks I've taken on board your feedback and I have chnaged the competition (hopefully for the better).

Major changes are to:

Entry fee now £25
Reduce the number of reequired entries
Updated the entry game - Now SPOT THE BALL
Updated web site (The best I could)

Please can I have feedback and if you will be interested in an affiliate scheme?

Cheers
Dan

Hi All,

The affiliate program is set-up and running. If your interested please follow this link:

http://www.clixgalore.com/AffSelectP...AdvProgID=5120

Cheers
Dan

P.S. ClixGalore was the only affiliate scheme that would let me join (others said it's not cost effective) and so far it's been first class service with reply to my request within 12 hours and already 2 merchants signed up and selling.

P.P.S. We will be in the Sunday Telegraph this sunday (9th Oct)
