Sponsor a joke, but how much?
I run a humour site with hundreds of jokes and pictures which I originally started out just so I could learn web design.
The site now receives a lot of traffic without any PPC and the cost for bandwidth is high which is why I now have advertising within the site.
The problem I have is that being a general humour site I find it hard pin pointing a market to advertise that works. On all my pages I have a prominent advert in my nav header which I normally only profit from at xmas with gadget sites. However if I put general banners to my other sites I often get a good click through rate.
This has given me the idea that I could let webmasters sponsor a joke or funny picture and get them traffic. It wouldn't get penalized as a link directory or exchange because it will only be one add a page.
So my question is how much should I ask for each page of advertising per year, £10, £25, £50, £100+? Each page gets thousands of views and the index pages get 100k's.
Any advise would be greatly received.
