Would you advertise here?

Hi,

me and a couple of friends have been working on a site for some time and we have recently got it up and running. We would like comments from people on what they think about it and if they would advertise here or not. It's not just normal advertising but focused advertising on special offers by online stores in UK.

Any comments would be appreciated.

Also any advice on how to promte it would be greatly appreciated.

At the moment we only doing google ad-words cos affiliate programs are just to coslty and we have no idea on how effective they are. We dont wan to spend ££££ on affiliate to get hardly any return.

i would say no, only if it was a niche site or listed no1 on google for the keyword "shopping" then yes, genN you better off doing affiliate programs, nobody said it will be easy you know the old saying "trial and error" and "spend money to make money".You just need to do a lot of tests on a lot of keywords and keep a close eye on the results.

genN your best bet is to join a ppc affiliate program but to do so you need about 1million page views a month i think.

Thanks for reponse and advice zaq. Yeah i know what your saying, only if the site is popular would people want to advertise on it. But its a catch 22 situation, how do we make the site get popular with repeat visitors (shoppers) if no one advertises on there, and how do we get the people to advertise if no shopper visits the site?

We just trying to get the advertisers for now, and then when we have a few hundered ads perhaps promote to shoppers.

any one else any thoughts?

Thats where affiliate programs come in genN you have a list affiliate program offers on one page then offer advertises the option of being no1 slot of the page offer.

Then all you have to do is build the traffic to your site using ppc.

I have taken a look at your site. I believe that you have an interesting idea, which could do well! I am not sure of the economics behind the site, but you have some interesting products and services, although some have dead links. Some of the links inside the side are also dead, take a look at one of the Contact Us links.

The meta-tags of the home page are quite good, but most other pages have a short title and no description or keywords. You really need better tags for the major sections.

Google is fine for generating visitors, but it will not help that much with the ranking of the site. I suggest that you consider Overture and/or Miva (was Espotting). These will generate traffic and lots of links to your site.

Good luck with the launch of the site. You need to be listed on as many directories as possible. Please submit your site for a listing on www.admax.co.uk. There are plenty of others out there, and many are free!
