Hitwise: Pricing?

As a company Jewellery.tv have been speaking to Hitwise about acquiring their web analytics tool. Having had Hitwise presented to us the benefits are obvious, but the key factor in making this purchase is the expected returns. The current asking price of Hitwise would require returns exceeding what our current analysis tells us we could expect from the use of this tool.

We are currently being quoted £12.5k for Hitwise, which in itself would mean a big stretch on an otherwise already stretched marketing budget. So there is no way we can expose ourselves by requiring more than what we believe this will generate.

I know some people have acquired Hitwise at significantly less than £12.5k, but we dont seem to be able to get them to come down at the moment. Could anyone tell me how much they have paid and how they get them to reduce their asking price?

hitwise has definitely been useful for us. How effective and profitable the information is to will be dependent on the limits of your imagination.

Our contact - Guy has been flexible to a degree, but the cost is a major factor.

They will negotiate to a point but I doubt you will get anything thats useful for less than £12.5k.

When we were offered it, they offered different access levels starting at 8-9k.
It all really depends on how much value you place on understanding your customers demographics....

For you maybe but it will differ for each person and their needs. Hitwise base their pricing on the number of categories that you require. If you only operate in 1 or 2 channels then you may well get a good deal for that sum. However if you run across lots of different channels/markets you are going to need access to more categories and that means more money.
