  A million dollar copy?

I wouldnt mind some feedback on this website when you get the time :-)

Although i did (like loads of others) get the idea from the milliondollarhomepage.com, I think this site is different enough not to be labeled just another copycat site.

www.crazyfrogverts.com .... could it work?

Cheers

Lee

hmm.. maybe???, if so i could just think of another theme to use, but keep the same idea.

Although i was hoping a lot of sites selling that character would advertise there site on there so i cant see much harm done, if anything its helping promote the character.

I think ill email Matt and ask him (although he isnt replying to emails recently)... if there is then ill change it.

lol.. no probs Steven, it is a very good point and ive emailed Matt (Jamster) to ask if it would be ok.

It did cross my mind but then thought i was being a bit paranoid, but now someone else pointed it out its got me thinking again :-)

If there is a problem ill have to change it to just a plain old green frog :-(

Not a bad idea but I'd have another think about some of your FAQs - I know what you mean when you say the ads will be live for the lifetime of the site but what if you decide to close the site 2moro......

It would be better imho to say "this site will be live for at least the next 2 years" or something like that - would inspire more confidence.

Yes, your right.. ill put a guarantee of 5 years life span on the site, its all automated so there is no work involved keeping it running.

To get more interest & bidding in the site i was thinking about this idea.

"Every 1000 Frogverts, the top Frogvert owner will get 10% commission of the last 1000 Frogverts sold"

So basicly on the 1000th Frogvert sold, the highest value frogvert owner will get a minumum of £1000.

With it being database driven i will know exactly which person was at the top when the 1000th was sold.

Seems a very good bargain to me, unless my maths are incorrect.

Isn't "Crazy Frog" a trademark as well?

"Could it work?" - it could! but I had http://www.milliondollargambling.com/ appear in my mail box a few days back... the take up for it has been stunning!

Imo the pixel ad phenomena will only be big for the original site, more because of the entreprenurial idea than the actual content of the site - the copycats, imitators etc don't really have much point if you take away that element.

Yeah the term 'Crazy Frog' is a trademark also, but 'Frogverts' arnt and if im just refering to them as 'crazy' then i cant see a problem... if you see what i mean.

Im expecting a reply from Jamster tomorrow, so ill just change what is needed, the idea of the site is original (which was the hard part), it will be just a matter of changing the theme as the workings of the site can be easily applied to anything.

It would be a bit of a set back but not something which would destroy the site, so im not too worried.

Forgot to mention...

The only similarities between this idea and the milliondollarhomepage is that im displaying the sites earnings and im mentioning the price per pixel, although im not selling per pixel, im selling per ad position.

Its more of a google adwords copy than a million dollar copy.

The trouble with pixel ad copycat sites is that none of them have the angle of the original - the guy is (was) broke and needed to fund himself through uni.

And although that doesn't necessarily mean that people are going to continue coming to his site, people bought ads because of either the emotional hook, or they wanted to ride the viral wave of the idea.

Pixel ad copycats have neither of the above factors going for them, so in order to make it work you need something to bring prospects to the site, not just advertisers, who are otherwise simply advertising to each other (although there might be some mileage in that - not sure)...
