Look at my website - Any suggestions?

Firstly I must confess that I'm a kind of newbie to Affiliate marketing. My aim is just to make a small income from my website.

Please take a look: http://www.realbabyguide.co.uk. It offers a hands on approach to bringing up a baby. I wanted it to be an affiliate site and earn some money.

I have some reasonable listings on MSN, Altavista, but I have found it hard to acheive a decent google ranking. I've optimised by site using Internet Business Promoter from Axandra. I guess that I'm disappointed with the traffic that I'm receiving. Sure, I have made some money from the Affiliate side and Adsense, but wonder which way to go now.

The site is 6 months old. Am I expecting too much too soon, or are there points I can improve on? I'd be grateful for your feedback.

Thanks

Really Really nice site. Not in the market for anything yet but would buy from your site. Also, nice idea to have a dads page. Have you considered PPC.

Best of luck

Adrian

Hi,

I think you've got a fantastic site there but it doesn't appear to have that many products in key areas.

For example, in your pushchair category you only have 5 push chairs and none of them are linking to a merchant.

If you need more products take a look at the Kiddicare.com program which I manage on the buy.at network. We are one of the biggest retailers in this sector and stock thousands of different products.

Just taking prams/buggies as an example we stock the following:

Buggies - http://www.kiddicare.com/page/navpage?N=373
3 Wheelers - http://www.kiddicare.com/page/navpage?N=380
Twins - http://www.kiddicare.com/page/navpage?N=338
3 Wheeler Twins - http://www.kiddicare.com/page/navpage?N=362
Travel Systems - http://www.kiddicare.com/page/navpage?N=358
Prams - http://www.kiddicare.com/page/navpage?N=1145
Tandems - http://www.kiddicare.com/page/navpage?N=387

Cheers
Paul.

http://datafeedfile.co.uk have a few baby merchants on board - enough for it to warrant its own category in their listings. You could either integrate them (only choosing relevant merchants to build your site with), or even just be a bit cheeky and see what merchants they feature in case you missed any.

Fantastic site, the design of it is brilliant. Really nice layout and colours.

But like someone said PPC might be a good idea to earn some money from it, but don't put loads of ads on it will ruin the site.

Regards.

Like everyone has said - great looking site.

Where is the churn of content though - I have a 21 month old (plus a 7 year old) - and could probably write something every day about what they get up to.

It seems very much "here is what you need to get started" - keep writing down those experiences and link them into the extra things you buy as you go along - i.e. moving from carry car seat to forward facing, from bottle to weaning, to solids - they all require more kit. We have found with both kids that you replace certain items with the next phase up so write the articles about progress and load them up with the appropriate links.

Fresh unique content keyed straight from the events of the day - what could be better!!

I agree with Haggul, more quality and unique content is needed.

I have three little girls and I too could write something new every day because they are changing every day.

Any parent can write unique content and will have their own tips.

The more content you get, the more inbound links and also you will be able to weave in textual links (affiliate) into your articles etc.

Carl.

I agree, it is a really nice looking site.

babyworld.co.uk are part of POR and offer a wide range of products for 0-3's. We have a product feed available and a special September discount code.

Feel free to PM me if you want any more info on the babyworld programme.

Good Luck with the site!
