Review new site under construction for Design2Please

Hi,

I have spent alot of my spare time recently working a new version of the site using an upgrade on the old package i used. I have now got a lot more flexiblity with the design, code etc.

The new site is not finished yet and there are a couple of known issues i am trying to resolve including the best sellers & new products links from the homepage.

Hopefully from listening to your comments last time and from having more flexiblity the site will be an improvement on the current one.

Welcome your comments. www.designtoplease.co.uk
Current site www.design2please.co.uk

Regards

Yep Firefox all over the place aswell!

Try using floats for the different <div>'s on the CSS.

One tip for the future... design your sites using Firefox and them tweak them for the other browsers, I find that's the best way to do it!

Once the layouts sorted it'll look good! Clean and tidy and looks professional!

Oh poo. I HATE THESE SITES for the simple reason is that I spend a fortune on them

OK, ignoring all the works in this and not that comments (don't you ignore them, I mean me), I find the look, feel and navigation of the new site to far far far outway the old site. As has been said, if you can fix for all browsers then you would have a site to be really proud of.

Now tell me, do you have an affiliate program with any networks?

Oooo just realised a few bits wrong - see image below

Not yet, need to get the new site finished first & tested, and also allow a bit of time to collate some performance figures together. As long as the site continues with its current success then an affiliate program will def be on the cards.

Once again thanks for your comments.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi all,

I believe i have now resolved the firefox issue, although have not had a chance to fully test this yet. Hopefully the problem should also now be resolved in IE7 as well but need to check that tonight.

Currenlty have a couple of sections where the products are being forced below the sidebars (kitchen tools & gadgets and serving tools) although this should just be a case of me needing to play around with image size and descritpion lengths so that the table fits in where it should do.

As always grateful for your comments.

Kind Regards

I agree, perhaps i would conservatively estimate this to be a million times better than your last site.

However, the banner image look a bit dull, this should be clean, strong colours. Your selling style here, lifestyle etc..

Square buttons on the top nav are just weird. new delivery, guarentee etc... this is thrid level nav, make it 10px arial #666666 -

next day deliver l guarentee l secure l terms and conditions

Also, view cart, items, login are all uneven.

Logo ruins the site, emboss effect is like 10 years out of date.

Anyway thats my opinion

What's the difference between a "Kitchen utensil" and "Kitchen tool"?Surely these could be in the same category?!?

In a similar vein, do 4 doorbells merit having a whole section to themselves? Or even two "plate spacers" (whatever they are for LOL) Your product sections are in a completely non logical order e.g. Phones, doorbells, watches, furniture. Why did you put them in that strange order? I would get annoyed shopping here as I would spend too much time getting lost in the bizarre navigation....

You are also forcing people to scroll far too much - everyone knows that web shoppers are all lazy, otherwise we would be wandering round shops looking at plate-spacers and doorbells rather than looking on t'interweb

Re: Review new site under construction for Design2Please

Hi all,
I have made a few changes since my last post.

I have changed the text in the logo. I have removed best sellers and new prodcts listings from the homepage so as to make it less cluttered. I have reordered the categories in the lhs navigation in alphabetical order and hopefully this weekend should be changing the brand name section links to a drop down menu so that users dont have to scroll down as far. I have also changed the image links for next day delivery etc to text ones.

I have moved kitchen utensils and kitchen gadgets into one section called kitchen.

Changed the layout of related products on the product pages.

We now have the psp ready to go live, just have a few more things to finish off including some more products to add, changing the style of the lhs navigation, and also the layout of the shopping cart.

ps i know there are only two products in a the plate spacers category but this is a brand name, hence the reason i have created that section. With regards to doorbells these didnt really fit in anywhere else and as they are a good seller i wanted them to be obvious to find for users.

With regards to the logo, whilst i understand i am selling style i want the users focus to be on the products rather than the logo so have chosen not to make the logo to bold and bright.

I welcome any comments.

Regards
