which one is your priority?

In my opinion, I would do it in this order:

SEO
opt-in list
submit article
Joint venture
free classified
Google AdWords

I know that some people would rather do the AdWords first but I would like the reassurance that everything is SEO'ed and perfect for when the stampede of visitors come!

Yes I do agree with csn. I think the first preference should be given to SEO and then the next ones. Its very hard to drive traffic to your website if not good in SEO campaigns. To drive more visitors to a website, SEO is the most important factor to consider.

I just start my forum about parents,teacher and student in my area.
Any idea how to promote a forum?

Blogs are no different to standard websites. In fact, as they are often updated more regularly, they should be easier to promote.

Make sure your pages are search engine friendly. That means using the H1, H2 and H3 tags correctly as well as having correctly formated (X)HTML.

In terms of promotion, you need to find like minded blogs and websites and exchange links with them. A search of Blogger should reveal some blogs.

Most importantly, choose one topic and stick with it. Successful blogs are focussed. Too many topics and your blog is nothing more than a collection of memories. Focussed content can help drive visitors to your site.
