do you Digg? wanna be my friend

I am starting to try to use Digg and understand its power. Is anyone else a digg user, is it possible to become "friends" on digg.

Can anyone highlight how to make best use of digg, I remember deano had big success with it last year.

I usually plug sites / news on it - but to really make the best of it you need 100s of friends that will digg anything you post

I don't use it a lot, but Firebox products get Digged every so often, we can tell immediately 'cause we get a massive traffic spike.

Digg can be difficult to use as a promotional tool- as its a community they don't tend to look favourably upon obvious plugs. You could try digging a few interesting things to get started, but for your own work the best thing to do is probably add a 'digg this' button to your site, so that people can easily add stuff.

Word of warning- if something does take off and gets a lot of diggs, it can cause a massive amount of traffic, leading to server meltdown. We had problems the first time it happened, and I believe deano's blog went down a few times when it was on digg.

No idea if you can be someone's friend on Digg, or how that works, sorry!
