IBP / Arelis

Has anyone used IBP / Arelis programs for link building? Be very interested in opinions before I potentially spend a few days on it.

It's quite efficient but it's strength in link building is basically in automated link invitations which borders on spam, depending on how you use it, plus it creates a big directory of outbound links for reciprocal linking which is just downright ugly.

Having dabbled with it a year or so ago, I can honestly say that creating some good content, then finding related sites that you can strike up a relationship with is a far better use of your time.

On the plus side, there are some handy keyword generation tools in there for PPC which I still use, and some of the competitor analysis is a good source of sites to approach

Worth investing the time in the free trial I'd say, then see how you go.

I was hoping to use it as a quick way to find sites that link to my competitors, inform them about my site and ask them for a one-way link - I am not going to offer reciprocal links. If I do not upload to server the directory of outbound links that it creates can I use it this way?

Sure,

As a research tool it's not bad at all, I'd definitely give it a go if that's what you're after.
Good stuff in there for finding who links to your competitors.
