  Exactly How I Got on Digg.com With a Random Article

Hi all...

A couple of months ago my biz partner bet me that I couldn't get a random article and transform it into a viral/buzz success.

To be more specific, he bet me $1k that I couldn't get it onto the Digg.com main page in 3 attempts.

Long story short... I got the story on the Digg homepage 24 hours later, and had over 70,000 uniques to date, plus a lot more email subscribers, backlinks, readers etc...

I am not sure if this will be much interest to an affiliate crowd. So I am putting this out as a feeler post.

If you would like to hear the exact 9 techniques I used to transform the content, then let me know and I will post them.

Many thanks.

Dean

Dean, I would love to read such a post - I'm a big Digg fan too and I'm planning to attend their podcast recording 3rd October in London, any other a4u-ers going along?

Nope, please don't tell me. Not interested. Thanks anyway though

</sarcasm>

PS. Digg sucks... really... it does... endless trolls and "haha a funny cat" submissions... try reddit.com: what's new online for a slightly brighter crowd, or Hacker News | Top Links for an even smarter crowd. Course for marketing digg is probably the biggest, with the least savvy people - more likely to generate revenue perhaps.

No I'm not interested at all. I've seen 10 zillion of these "How I got onto Digg" articles of late and they all say the same thing. I.e. write something about the iPhone or a top 10 list of something slightly topical or controversial. Email your link to some friends and some "authority" blogs/sites and hey presto Digg front page.

Oh and then you try and sell it as an eBook

I agree. Seen lots of them lately as well.
Of course you could just pay one of the companies that get people round the world to upvote articles for you (as far as I've heard).
Is getting to the top of digg that great anyway? Depends what story you have to tell I think... if it's interesting and catches peoples imagination it'll get there on its own merits.

I'm sure a lot of people would like to hear how you achieved it, even if we have read 100's of them before (which I haven't actually), you never know you may have something extra to share.
