Why don’t you start article, press release and blog submission to directories? Good articles will help you to pre sell your product.

Hi Noah,

I would suggest having a good read on these forums about website promotion and then consider performance-related affiliate marketing in addition to your external methods.

What type of site is it? What is the URL?

What do you mean by 'got a website'? Not all websites are equal when it comes to getting traffic. Some succeed because the domain and business name are the same/similar. Others succeed because they have indexable content that people are looking for through search engines.

If you are only looking for 'local' traffic, that can be quite easy. PM me with your site url and traffic expectations so that I can give it a quick once over.

You shouldn't just be aimed at getting hits to your site. What you should be more concerned on is getting the right kind of traffic that would make conversions - Targeted Traffic.

Good content (info, service or product) + SEO + PPC, Targeted back links, Forum posts to similar niche, banners, etc. = Great traffic and more targeted traffic!

IMO, opting for paid ways contribute well to a good marketing mix especially at getting targeted traffic. In reality, getting 10 targeted traffic is better that 100 random traffic. Getting just mere random traffic doesn't constitutes your site's success - it's the conversion you get from your traffic. Getting traffic is just the first step, offering the right stuff to your visitors and conversion should be utmostly considered.

To sum up, SEO is great for the long run and shouldn't be left out. This is a long process and wouldn't always give you immediate results. Premium ways (PPC, paid targeted links, banner, etc) for faster generation of targeted traffic especially if you have time constraints.

I totally agree with Mrcatz , you should not only drive huge volume but also quality traffic which actually can give you real business. One thing you must notice that your product should be prepared and your site should be easy for navigation and you should also try to retain the visitor by doing promotional activity such as competition etc.

It is always cheaper to retain a existing customer than bringing a new visitior.

MrCatz has forwarded a sieve for filtering targeted traffic from random traffic. He has provided an equation to what we want to say with words.

hi,

i think that random traffic is completely usless regardless how many you generate, so in my opinion ppc < pey per click> stays the ideal way to gain targeted unique and instant traffic.
