New site - your thoughts would be appreciated!

Hey All

I have just created my second affiliate site. I had a dabble over xmas which was rather succesful so i thought i'd branch out and try another. Its still a work in progress, only finished about 4 of the categories so far but you'll get the idea.

Your feedback would be appreciated. Im looking to utilise PPC to promote my site. Not sure what sort of budgets im going to use yet, i'll work that out once its totally finished.

Also - i might be missing a trick but how on earth do i set up a signature?!

Signature - top right .. quick link .. edit signature.

Site - looks to be a good start, some thoughts ..

- add a robots.txt file
- add a sitemap (preferably xml)
- focus on your keywords and add a bit more content
- use google webmaster tools
- use yahoo site explorer
- add backlinks

Firstly - what does the robot file do?

Im not sure how to make a site map using XMl but i can certainly read up on that, thanks for the advice.

Im working on content - im not sure how i can get extra content in there?

Found the signature button

Try - Create your Google Sitemap Online - XML Sitemaps - to get you going with a basic xml sitemap. These are the guys I used at first. Then just read up on it over time. Save it as "sitemap.xml" in your root directory.

A Robots.txt file is one of the first files the bots look for. It suggests which pages they should visit although to be specific, it's intention is to suggest which pages 'not' to index.

You could start by typing the following into Notepad, saving it as "Robots.txt" and then loading it in to your root directory ( after you've loaded the sitemap ).

User-agent: *
Disallow:

Sitemap: http://www.catalogues4everyone.co.uk/sitemap.xml

Hi there can not give any technical info at all,

but quite like the navigation it is nice and quick and easy.

Not sure about the amount of Black on the page (but thats just personal preference)

Would be a little concerned as to how people will find the site, anyone searching for a catalogue name would probably go straight to their site.

Would it be possible to actually have product feeds on there (I have heard good lady wife and my mam talk about these this is the extent of my technological knowledge). This would probably help with being able to write content.

With regards to people finding the site its going to be focused on long tail keyword and not brand bidding. People look for catalogues for example!

Can you ellaborate on the colours or do you mean you don't like them? I'm using firefox and don't have any problems?
