  Out going links

I've seen a few sites where outgoing links to affiliates look something like this:

www.yourdomain.com/link456.php
or perhaps
www.yourdomain.com/link.php?456

I presume this has two effects:

1. Helps you keep a track of number of hits.
2. Improves you PR by having less out going links.

Just one question. How do I do this ?! Can it be done with dreamweaver?

I dont know anything about php (suppose it's time to learn). Can you do it anyother way (other than HTML redirects which I'm not so keep on).

Thanks for any help

I wouldn't know if it can be done in dreamweaver as I dont use it.

If you want a php script to do this you can probably find what your looking for here:
www.hotscripts.com/PHP/Sc..._Tracking/

Or if you prefer perl scripts:
www.hotscripts.com/Perl/S..._Tracking/

I used to use loads of scripts off here, after you've used a few you end up picking up php and before you know it your making your own! :rollin:

Thanks

Am I correct in thinking that google will not read
www.mydomain.com/linkout.php?4567
as an out going link?

Several merchants use that type of link with AW as it does apparently increase their Link Popularity.

PHP pages can be created with Dreamweaver.

It's all quite simple once you understand it, up until a month or two ago I knew nothing about PHP, now my whole site uses PHP pages.
