  MYSQL Query?

The Problem!!!!

I have a site I have uploaded to my webspace. It has a database called jobsite_tables.sql. I have tried several times to create an MYSQL database but Cpanel keeps adding the account name in front i.e wwwuk_jobsite.sql.

Also, how do you link the database and web pages together thru cpanel.

Any help would be great

Hi Scott,

It's difficult to answer without knowing what control panel you're using and how your website is coded up. can you give any more details about how the website you've developed normally accesses the database ?

He is using Cpanel, but I can't help as I don't have the first clue about that, and I take it you looked at www.cpanel.net/docs/cp/MySQL.htm already.

Hi

All you need to do. Is import the .sql file into the MySQL Database. If you have phpMyAdmin installed. Load up the database, then browse and select the .sql file. Hit the go button, and it should run the SQL which then creates the tables etc etc.

You could also open the .SQL file in a text editor and copy and paste the query into the query box on phpMyAdmin

My advice, is to read a few tutorials on MySQL / PHP. So you can get an understanding of how MySQL works, and then how to connect to it, from PHP, or Perl etc

www.devshed.com have a few tutorials on this, also www.hotscripts.com is worth a look!

Cpanel does that with all the databases, best thing to do is open your sql file in an editor and use the find and replace feature to change jobsite_tables to wwwuk_jobsite

Then upload it either with phpmyadmin or via a ssh with
mysql databasename < file.sql -uuser -ppassword

You would need to change your scripts to connect to the correct database as well.
