  Need Help

Hi everyone,

Just seeing if anyone would be interested in helping me out for £20.

I said i would sort something out for a mate and would have it finished by today but haven't even got started yet! It's not a for profit thing or anything, just a forum.

Problem is, i've only had experience with MySql using an online control panel before so don't have a clue what to do so anyone who does know with phpBB, it shouldn't even take that long

Because it needs to be done ASAP and i don't have a paypal account at the mo, if it was a small online shop you owned or something i could buy something for £20 and then not send it, or i could just pay the old fashioned way by cheque or postal order sent out today.

If anyone is interested could they please email donflashmob@aol.com or PM on here.

Cheers

find a host which will install a forum for you.

Lots do simple install stuff - you just click a button. A host I use for some sites offers:

Auto Install Scripts

Auto Install Scripts are exactly that, they install a number of scripts with a few simple text entries, and a mouse click. These make setting up forums, and blogs a complete snap for even the most novice of users. Below are some of the scripts our auto install feature supports:

• b2
• b2evolution
• Nucleus
• pMachine Free
• WordPress
• Drupal
• Geeklog
• Mambo Open Source
• PHP-Nuke
• phpWCMS
• phpWebSite
• Post-Nuke
• Siteframe
• Xoops
• Crafty Syntax Live Help
• Help Center Live
• osTicket
• PHP Support Tickets
• Support Logic Helpdesk
• Support Services Manager
• Invision Board
• phpBB2 <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< This is what you want I think
• YaBBSE
• CubeCart
• OS Commerce
• FAQMasterFlex
• 4Images Gallery
• Coppermine Photo Gallery
• PHPlist
• Advanced Poll
• phpESP
• PHPSurveyor
• dotProject
• PHProjekt
• PhpWiki
• TikiWiki
• Moodle
• Noahs Classifieds
• Open-Realty
• phpAdsNew
• PHPauction
• phpCOIN
• phpFormGenerator
• phpLinks
• WebCalendar

So just track down a host. Or yours might already do it.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. It's not a problem installing phpBB, that's already installed.

It's because the site on the new server isn't live yet that's confusing me. Plus the host on a forum that i have done has an online MySql panel which can be got into from there, this one doesn't.

I just need the old forum posts database installing on the new server.

Can you use PHPMyadmin to make a backup of the old databae and, download it to your PC and then upload to the new database?

Not sure if it works like this as i use ASP stuff myself.......

probably not as efficient as it can be done, but that's what i'd normally do too.

However, i'd still use phpmyadmin to do that, and i think stuff4nowt is saying that the machine he's moving the database too doesn't have any form of online control panel to use to import the database in with.

So, the problem is importing a database in to a site who's hosting does not have phpmyadmin or similar control panel. I think.

Does the forum have any sort of import facility in the admin section? Would be an easy way around the problem.
